7. In many cases, the Association Agreement replaces a cooperation agreement and thus strengthens relations between partners. 3. The processing of personal data by the Agency and the Member State or the participating Member States, including in the case of the transfer of personal data to [third countries], is subject to Regulation (EC) 45/2001 of the European Parliament and the Council of 18 December 2000 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data by COMMUNITY institutions and bodies and the free flow of such data; Directive 95/46/EC of the European Parliament and the Council of 24 October 1995 on the protection of individuals with regard to the processing of personal data and the free movement of such data, council framework decision 2008/977/JAI of 27 November 2008. European Parliament resolution of 15 November 2001 on the protection of personal data processed in the context of police and judicial cooperation in criminal matters and on the measures adopted by the Agency for the Application of The Regulation (EC) No 45/2001, in accordance with Article 45, paragraph 2, of the Regulation (EU) 2016/1624. The European Commission reports annually on the implementation of its main trade agreements in the previous calendar year. The Agency can also coordinate operational cooperation between Member States and third countries in the area of external border management. In this regard, it may, subject to the agreement of that neighbouring country, including the territory of that third country 6, implement measures at external borders involving one or more Member States and a third country bordering at least one of these Member States. If, during border surveillance operations with a third country, emergency search and rescue operations at sea were to take place, specific provisions must be added to the status agreement and response plan with that third country. 4. The agreement may be denounced by written agreement between the parties or unilaterally by one of the parties. In the latter case, the contracting party who wishes to denounce him informs the other party in writing. The termination takes effect on the first day of the month following the month that was communicated.

In accordance with Article 54, paragraph 4, or Regulation (EU) 2016/1624, the agreement on the status of the model must cover the scope of the operation, civil and criminal liability, the tasks and powers of the team members, as well as respect for fundamental rights. Article 54, paragraph 4 of the Regulation (EU) 2016/1624 provides that the EU must enter into a status agreement with the third country concerned when it is expected that teams will be deployed in a third country, when the team members have executive powers or other measures taken in third countries.
